چکیده
Teachers are strong role models for their pupils, especially at the beginning of education. This also holds true math: If teachers feel anxious about math, consequences on mathematical education pupils is detrimental. Previous studies have shown that (future) elementary school higher levels math anxiety than most people studying other subjects. Here, we set out to conceptually replicate these findings (e.g., meta-analysis by Hembree, 1990, https://doi.org/10.2307/749455) comparing pre-service and in-service German Belgian a reference group university students from various fields study. Moreover, questioned this finding asking which experience anxiety, considering gender, specialization, experience, investigated how relates teaching attitudes towards math. We replicated previous showing female level as compared students. Importantly, without specialization indeed had almost quarter them critical anxiety. In contrast, with did not show an increased sample. Considering only but all teachers, regardless teach in educational systems, potential problem pupils’ learning.

A total of 247 American children between 6 and 10 years of age (126 girls and 121 boys) completed Implicit Association Tests and explicit self-report measures assessing the association of (a) me with male (gender identity), (b) male with math (math-gender stereotype), and (c) me with math (math self-concept). Two findings emerged. First, as early as second grade, the children demonstrated the A...

ion. When asked, what is a fraction?, we say it is just something concrete, like a slice of pizza. And when this doesn’t work, we continue to skirt the question by offering more metaphors and more analogies: What about a fraction as “part of a whole”? As another way to write division problems? As an “expression” of the form m/n for whole numbers m and n (n > 0)? As another way to write ratios? ...
